Five days

That was the development time for Courier 0.1. Shows nicely what a nice development environment the NewtonOS + NewtonScript still is. Ok, I cheated a bit since I am using parts of Raissa, NHttpLib and ntox, but it is still surprising how fast you can throw something together using the NewtApp framework.

Of course the first 80% of a project only make up 20% of the overall effort. Mandatory features which are missing at the moment are cache control, handling of named HTML character entities and better parsing of faulty HTML. Nice to have features would be Inbox integration (so you could download links into the inbox), URLCop support., scheduled downloads, better integration with programs such as NewtScape with its various plug-ins and WebXpress, Cookies, and last but not least, simple forms. Maybe also HTTPS, but that requires some serious hacking on the endpoint level.

Which brings us to the next topic...
